Key Stage 4 have been working on poems that have came from their own experiences in class Carol Duffy inspired them to make their own.

 The Journey

It was the 28th June, in the afternoon as I remember.

We looked and looked at the dates-on the tickets, the passports and the calendar.

The bags were packed.

It was time to leave-leave behind my old friends and my old Germany life.

With the bags packed, the tickets booked and the goodbyes said it was time to ride off into the sunset.

It was my first time on a ferry. This was quite exciting.

I smiled at my mother and held on tight to the rail.

The sea was calm.

I don’t remember how I felt. It was just a new adventure. New people, new home and a new life.

Hagimi,

Judo, Wednesday Night,

Belts, red, yellow, orange, green, blue, brown, black.

Hold on. Fall down, grasp and grab.

Hurt, bruise, winded, pain shakes your body.

Taiatashi . Iponsianagi,  front, back, hold down.
